Meet the Pros

John Janes

John Janes is the Director of Tennis for the Boca Grande Club.  John brings over 25 years experience with some of the most prestigious Clubs throughout the country. 
 
John was born and raised in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois.  He was Chicago District Junior Player of the year in 1988.  John was a 4 year varsity letterman at Auburn University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management.  John coached ATP tour professionals, Ronald Dueller and David Macpherson.
 
Through his professional career, John has been Director of Tennis at Laurel Oak Country Club in Sarasota, FL as well as the Oaks Club in Osprey, Florida.  
 
 

Sam Johnston

Sam played Division II tennis for four years at Brevard College in North Carolina. He graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science Studies and is currently studying for his Master’s Degree in Medical Sciences. After graduating from college, he started coaching multiple juniors in the Bradenton and Sarasota area and has since worked privately with various competitive players as a traveling coach. Between the years of 2014 and 2016, Sam worked as the Assistant Tennis Coach for the State College of Florida Women’s Tennis Team. Under his guidance, the team won the State Championships both years and finished 3rd his first year and 5th his second year at Nationals. In 2015, he was named the ITA Assistant Coach of the Year for Junior and Community Colleges in Region IV.

Sam joined the Boca Grande Club Tennis Staff as the Assistant Pro in 2017 and is now the current Head Tennis Pro as of 2020. During the summer months, Sam is a Tennis Professional for the Great Harbor Yacht Club on Nantucket.

Dan Talbott

Dan Talbott, born and raised in Englewood, Florida, was a four-year letterman in tennis at Lemon Bay High School, where he also held the #1 player position for two years. He went on to play for the Pfeiffer University Tennis Team and later served as the Tennis Director at Jacaranda West Country Club in Venice.
