Club Tennis Rules

So that we can provide clean towels for our tennis players on a daily basis, please return used towels to the baskets provided on-court, or return them to the basket in the Pro Shop.

Prior to taking a court, at least one member of the tennis party must visit the Pro Shop personally to register and/or confirm the names of all people in the group.  Any changes to the player line-up should be made at this time. Guests should be accounted for at this time as well.

Use the provided receptacles for your tennis ball containers, bottles, cans and other trash. Do not leave trash on the center bench or on other parts of the court.

Please do use the “tennie two-steps” and “scrushers”. They are provided throughout the tennis facility to clean your tennis shoes when finished playing and before entering Boca Grande Club buildings.

You must remove your tennis shoes prior to entering the Fitness Center.  Even cleaned tennis shoes will have clay on them, and this damages the equipment.  If you must use your tennis shoes in the Fitness Center, and you last used them on the courts, please wash them off before entering the Fitness Center.

For your safety, do not play on courts with standing water.  To protect our courts, never remove standing water with towels, brooms or squeegees.

Swearing is strictly prohibited.  Be especially aware of this rule when children are present.

When parking your bike at our tennis courts, please make sure you place it in the bike rack. Do not leave your bike on our grass or walkways.

There is a monthly schedule of tennis activities at the Boca Grande Club.  Check out our schedule on a regular basis.  Copies are available in the Pro Shop, at the Front Desk, and online.  Keep abreast of Tennis Clinics, Womens' Team Matches, Mens' Day, Womens' Day, Saturday Mixed Doubles and Special Events.  Become involved in your Club!

Dress Code

Proper tennis attire is required for all Club members and guests using the tennis courts at the Boca Grande Club.

Men must wear tennis shorts.  Collared polo-style shirts, crew-collared tennis shirts and tennis themed t-shirts are acceptable.

Women must wear tennis shorts, skirts or dresses.  Tank tops, crew-collared tennis shirts, traditional polo-style shirts and tennis themed t-shirts are acceptable.

Junior tennis players seventeen (17) and under taking part in clinics or using the courts are strongly encouraged to wear proper tennis attire.

Appropriate smooth-soled tennis shoes are recommended for play on the clay courts of the Boca Grande Club.  While permitted, running shoes are not recommended for play on the clay courts.  Running shoes do not have the lateral stability of a proper tennis shoe and may pose a personal risk of injury.

Reserving court time and not showing up to play, or not calling to cancel the court time will result in a charge of $10.  Signing up for an event and not showing up for that event will likewise result in a $10 charge.
